KUHL Launches new REACTIV Series

On a constant journey to evolve and develop products, KUHL has just announced its new REACTIV series that features clothing for men and women.

Disclosure: The friends over at KUHL sent a quarter zip over for me to try, and give my own opinions of what I thought of the new line of apparel.

REACTIV ‘reacts’ to evolving conditions, as you make your way on journeys from morning to night, from warm to cold, and the key factor? Graphene.

Graphene is a breakthrough material that can sync with your temperature. When you’re moving and getting hot, Graphene can disperse that out, but if it gets cold, it can hold in that extra warmth.

Like most KUHL products, it’s meant to work as hard as you.

The material works like Merino; it is naturally antibacterial, but it’s also hydrophobic, and breathes for extra comfort. And it’s a perfect layer for a place like Guadalupe Mountains National Park, where the bottom of the summit trail is sunny, but when you get towards the top, the weather can change dramatically.

Up close, you’ll notice the grid fleece pattern on the 1/4 zip that allows for that breathability, but also helps with its quick dry properties. The material feels thick, but sturdy. When I tug on it, it bends right back into shape without any dimpling.

The fleece on the inside feels soft, not scratchy like some other heavier fleece items. And and the bottom of the sleeve, there is a thumb hole to ensure your arms stay protected, and helps keep your sleeves down when wearing under heavier layers.

I have not fully tested the snag control on this material, so I’ll update this post if any issues arise.

The items offer mid-to-light-weight options depending on your trip and needs, but honestly, the items are so packable, you can take two.

Sizing

Size is always a factor when it comes to KUHL items. They do have a history of running super small, but I got a Large, and it fit true to size. Keep in mind, it is meant to wick, so you should expect it to fit closer to the body to ensure it’s closer to the skin.

Final Thoughts

KUHL is a product that is going to function first, and look good second, but this new line is simple enough in design that you could potentially wear it outside of your outdoor adventures.

The comfort in the material and durability in the build make this collection perfect for everyday wear, so I’ll continue to update my thoughts on these items as they get more use.

And for the price point of KUHL, you want to make sure you’re getting the most value out of your items, and so far, they’ve yet to disappoint.
