The holidays are a wonderful time to visit the parks. With various activities to join, or decorations to explore, the parks offer a little outdoor fun for the family. Check out these six state parks around Texas that are a must visit for the holidays.
Central Texas
The Kresische Brewery & Monument Hill historic sites has a fun trail of lights event every weekend in December from 5:30-8 p.m. Get there a little early to learn about the Kreische family, and see a monument dedicated to the people who died during Santa Anna’s ‘Black Bean Incident’.
East Texas
Daingerfield SP is hosting Christmas in the Park Dec. 16-19. Guests are encouraged to decorate their campsites, but visitors can drive around and view the decorations.
Additionally visit Lake Tawakoni’s Twinkle Tour, and Eisenhower Park’s Like up the Park event.
Coastal
On December 19th, Brazos Bend S.P. has a self-guided holiday hike that takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check out some holiday decor as you walk around and learn more about the park.
Out West
On December 19th, head out to Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic site for a ranger-guided wintery hike. Reservations are required for the Home for the Holidays Hike.
