Pacsafe Go Sling Pack Overview

It’s easy to say that the best way to be safe in a new city is to not draw too much attention to yourself, but sometimes we get too comfortable and leave our personal belongings open to theft.

Keeping your small items like a wallet and phone in a bag is a great way to keep them secure, but having the extra piece of mind knowing that your gear is in an anti-theft pack will let you travel around a new city confidently.

The Pacsafe Go anti-theft pack retails for $64.95 and comes in eight colors. I reviewed the color called Coastal Blue featured in the photo above. I also like the contrast zipper pulls that add some pop to this pack.

The pack is made from r PET, which is a recycled plastic material that uses the equivalent of six recycled plastic bottles. That will give you some water repellency and add to its durability.

The material itself feels smooth but has some texture, similar to what you’d find on a backpack.

On the front, you have the Pacsafe branding in black and white.  And on the side, you have a little tab that reads ‘reduce ocean plastic’.

First impressions are that this sling pack offers plenty of space for your daily carry. The sizable volume in the main compartment, and the RFID pouch located inside, which I’ll talk about later in the video, is big enough to fit my wallet.

The strap is adjustable and works well as a hip pack or sling.

The Pacsafe GO sling pack is going to do three things:

Protect your belongings

Protect the bag itself

And Protect your identity

When it comes to protecting your belongings, the sling pack features cut-resistant fabric made from 600 D recycled polyester and Exomesh. The EXOMESH is built-in stainless steel wire mesh adding to that extra safety layer. The bag is also water resistant to 1000 meters.

Now notice I said cut-RESISTANT.  If you had a chainsaw saw you’d probably get through the material, but for someone trying to slice it and run, they’ll be hard-pressed to get through that poly and Exomesh.

One of my favorite features to protect your belongings is this lockable zipper feature.

Inside this pocket lives a clip that goes into the zipper opening, preventing the pack from being opened easily.  This is just one type of zipper-locking feature Pacsafe offers.  Depending on the size of the pack you’ll find different locking mechanisms to secure your gear.

A testament to Pacsafe’s commitment to ensuring the safety of your items.

Two features will keep the bag protected.

It features a carry-safe slashguard strap with Dyneema.  That is going to this wire that goes along the strap to make it cut-resistant.  You can see the strip here down the middle. This would be good for while you’re wearing it, or for a situation when you’re taking advantage of this next feature

Let’s say you want to set your bag down with your friends while getting up for a coffee, or a soda refill.  The buckle features a dual-release buckle to safeguard against a grab-and-go situation.  The buckle needs to be pressed from the sides AND the top to release the clip to open it.  Easy to do when you know it’s there, but easily fumbled and delayed if you don’t.

So the bag is protected with some heavy-duty wire in the strap, but also the clip that will keep it from being opened easily.

The third main security feature of the Pacsafe Go Sling Pack is the RFID protection.  On the inside of the pack, there is a separate pouch that is RFID safe and perfect for protecting your identity on things like a passport, driver’s license, or even your credit cards.

These features on their own may not deter, but the combination of them all helps prevent unwanted access to your items.

Final thoughts on the Pacsafe Go Anti-Theft Sling Pack

Because Pacsafe makes plenty of different pack options I think it’s best to think about what you’d use this sling pack for.  I mentioned at the beginning this would be good for walking around a new city or at something like a music festival.  Let me know in the comments where you’d use a pack like this.

At $65 the Pacsafe Go Anti-Theft Sling Pack is pretty competitive, especially if you think about the anti-theft and RFID protection.

There are only a few packs of this size that offer this level of protection, and both I saw online were more expensive.

I don’t see any downsides to this pack. If you’re looking for something that offers this level of security this is a really solid option.

So is this the most secure sling pack for your adventures? Let me know in the comments below what you think of the Pacsafe Go anti-theft sling pack. Click here for other gear reviews.
