There’s no doubt that the Texas State Park system is a great way to get out on the trails and enjoy the wildlife, but there are state parks that have more features for birders and birdwatchers. If you’ve been wondering which Texas state parks are best for birding then check out the full list below.
Each park has great wildlife viewing opportunities and bird blinds throughout the park that will give you a great vantage point for bird viewing.
A few favorites of mine include Davis Mountains State Park and Stephen F. Austin state park. These are both memorable bird blinds that have either great information about the species you’re likely to see, or are designed artistically.
World Birding Center
Another area worth considering is the World Birding Center in the Rio Grande Valley. Three Texas State Parks are included: Bentsen Rio Grande Valley SP, Estero Llano Grade SP, and Resaca de la Palma SP. And while not included, from south Texas make your way over to Mustang Island SP and Goose Island SP, to admire birds that make a stop along the Texas Gulf Coast.
Birding & Hiking Gear
Make sure you’re set before you head out on the trails with performance material hats, shirts, and hiking tools. Visit the TXTH gift shop for more information.
